I saw that too, their dogs mean more to them than their own lives. I can

I was out there for a wedding in '99.
the homeless population in california is sometimes more "visible" because the
weather permits year-round outdoor living. i used to buy a bag of kibble for
ny of these unfortunate souls if they had a dog with them. that dog is usually
their only "family" and, many times, the person would have food and equipment
for the dog and not himself. sad as it may appear, many of those animals are
deeply loved.
