Without getting into a total "apples and oranges" thing here, a lot of breeds
only offer the Best Of Breed, Best Op and Awards of Merit to the deserving.
A lot of them DO enter with the hope of going BOB, but, are very satidfied
with their AOM. There are no Selects, as we have them. Their AOM is
considered
like our Select Award. They have no GV/GVx. I agree to having this Award
available as it truly does increase the number of potential deserving dogs to
some recognition, than to have them all limited and folks feeling like they
have
wasted their time by not getting anything. These folks who get an AOM are
very happy with it. Heck! You hear it on the Westminster shows of the dogs
that
were awarded an AOM, even when they weren't BOB. Granted, we would all like
to go home with the GV Award, but, as with all shows, there are only very few
winners for that top slot. I am one of those few who would not necessarily
have them limited, but do encourage the use of an AOM.
