Just back from the nursing home where I work after about 40 hours and a
couple hours sleep. All residents and evacuees from New Orleans/Chalmette
are safe. Still now power, but at least now nursing assistant staff are
coming in to work and I could come home for a while. No major damage,
although the roof will have to be replaced. As I write this, I still hear
the wind outside. From where we are, the intensity of the storm is not what
got us inland, it was it's persistence. Mom and Dad did lose their camp in
Pecan Island to coastal tidal surge. Lots of good memories washed away.
Thank goodness Mom did bring home most of the picture albums. Can't wait
until November 3oth.
