Nah...if you read the article, the vet wasn't going to euthanize the dog. He is permitted by law, however, to hold the dog until payment is made or turn it over to the pound. (Now, what fees the pound charges to get the dog out, licensing fees, etc. could be another matter.) All this started over $200 some dollars, the overage on the estimate. I don't think JQ public has any idea what vet bills can be today and faced with emergency or prolonged care, I don't think many have thought out what their course of action should be. It's a shame:( AND, vets aren't always the bad guys. I have a (vet) friend who kept an elderly lady's diabetic cat going with house calls. When she found the lady wasn't buying her own meds, she did it for nothing.
