Paulette,
I may have been the one inquiring about SIBO. My girl, Candi, was thought to
have SIBO or cancer. As it turns out, after a VERY expensive stool sample
(diarrhea panel for $155.00!!!) they found good old Giardia. To correctly
diagnosis her problem we had to do a biopsy (she couldn't have surgery as her
protein level was too low) or get a stool sample to the vet within 2 hours. We
finally were able to get the sample to the vets. So now she is being treated
for
Giardia. The symptoms of Giardia are similar to several problems, such as Mal
Absorption syndrome, etc. It is hard to detect Giardia and we were lucky (I
guess) to find it. So we are still battling it and hope that the damage done
will not shorten her life. I have talked to several breeders (both Shepherds
and Danes) that have lost dogs to Giardia. I was shocked as I didn't realize
that it could kill. So we are taking this one day at a time and seeing what
happens with her.
