If you really believe that we promote the "Total Dog" then the "Total Dog"
should have a title at both ends of it's name!

But we are "elitists". We are the supporters of the total package. We
promote it all. We do NOT promote breeding dogs who do not conform to our
standard physcially OR mentally. We should encourage owners of ALL dogs to
enjoy their dogs, train their dogs, and promote dogs as a healthy part of our
society. The AKC will allow mixed breeds in performance--but they have to be
spayed and neutered to compete....they are not to be bred. Our parent club
oversees our breed and I am not sure we need to encourage people to breed dogs
who are not the total package. That is what we stand for. The total package. I
am not at all opposed to whites or other DQs competing in performance--or
WINNING. I am opposed to Parent Club approval for these dogs to be bred and to
be touted as the animals we need to strive to breed.
People certainly have a right to own and enjoy white GSDs or the like, but when
they make this choice, they go in to it KNOWING the color is a DQ. They chose
to do so anyway. Now they want US to change, rather than to give up their right
to purposely breed dogs with disqualifying faults.
And hey! I happen to think our GV SHOULD have a working title. But that is a
whole nother kettle of fish.
