lol, gayle.  lilly is the first rescue i have ever kept.   initially, all i 
could see were the differences between her and my "show  dogs".  now i see 
the inherent similarities which are the basis of this  wonderful breed.  as 
each dog does, she's taught me so much.  it's a  real eye-opener to watch a 
dog go from "don't touch me" to become  one who groans during ear rubs!

first  GSD was just the opposite.  The first thing she did every morning while 
I  got ready to go to work was "make the bed" - ie - push all the pillows on 
the  floor then she'd nap on the bed.  I never could figure out why she 
didn't  like pillows.

some of you may remember my having posted about my rescue, lilly,  before.  
she's the one who had SO many issues i wasn't sure if  she was  going to 
recover at all when i got her almost 3 years ago.  she still has  her 
quirks 
and fears - and always will - but  miss lil has turned out to be a dog  
with a 
lovely sense of humor.  it is so beautiful out today that my brother  and i 
decided to  take a ride up to the fruit and veggie store in sonoma, about  
15  
miles up the road.  we were gone about an hour and a half and, when  we  
got 
back, i went to get lilly and let her and the other dogs out  to potty.   
well, the lovely lilly had gone into my bedroom,  removed the 3 pillows 
from 
the  bed, arranged them on the floor and  was sound asleep, snoring, with 
her 
cute  little head well-cushioned. _ my pillows are a bit hairy now but i 
guess 
the  good news is  that she doesn't drool in her sleep!
had to share - remember, all dogs are  wonderful.
