How does anyone get experience with a gsd if the list is this long?

dogs who live in a k...

What are the alternatives, no fence, a dog chained up and/or a puppy stuck
in a crate for over eight hours while everyone is at work, then another 6-7
hours for bed time?

That's swell that some people can make due in less than ideal conditions,
but since I don't have many litters and can be very selective about who goes
where, I choose the BEST possible situations.

I DO want a fenced play area and I don't want both mom and dad working  (same
hour) full time jobs.

I'm not selling a puppy to renters either.  (Sorry, don't bother  e-mailing
telling me how well it worked for you, that's an exception and not the  rule.
Too many landlords don't allow pets for me to feel good about  it.  Shelters
are full of dogs where someone has lost a lease.)

ABSOLUTELY I want the puppy to go to a home where its a housedog. Does  that
even need an explanation? THESE DOGS DESERVE MORE THAN BEING  WHAREHOUSED IN
PENS LIKE CATTLE.

And bonus points for those who commit to puppy-k and obedience.  When
someone takes time to train/socialize their dog, they move up the puppy
waiting
list.

What I DON'T want is the puppy back in a few months after the new  owners
who don't have a fenced area realize what a chore it is to walk a  dog in the
rain/snow 4x+ a day or want to bring it back because the neighbors  complain
when a tied up dog makes a racket.  I want the first placement to  stick.

I'm fussy about age too.  I love Terry's idea about staying on as a  co-owner
when buyers get above a certain age.  As far as homes w/ newborns,  and very
young toddlers, no.  I know it "can" work w/ "dog people",  but remember, I
want the best homes, and it's a lot on a young mom to care for  very young
children and a puppy and if anything suffers for attention, it'll be  the puppy.

I'm fussy about how many dogs and the temperament of  those dogs that  a
prospective home may have too.  If they have a nut job, they are not  getting
one
of my puppies.  (Monkey see, monkey do and the puppy will grow  up w/ the same
issues.)

(I have placed a puppy in a townhouse, but it was a short therm thing; the
couple was waiting for their new house to be built.)

The ideal home for me would be someone who has had experience w/ GSDs or
other large dogs, children over 5-6, a fenced play area, a stay at home or
part
time or different shift employed parent, w/ maybe one or two other pets who
was interested in doing something with their new puppy.

How many  of us, after becoming enculturated in the breed a while, will only
sell  pups to people with fenced yards.  I have even seen posts that
maintain
that there should be somebody home with the pup during the day,  and the dog
should be a "house dog".    Since my first two GSDs  came to a Townhouse, and
walking them 1/2 a block away to potty was the  only recourse I (and they)
had; I
didn't have an objection to pups to  apartments with my litters, etc.,  But
after I came on this  list that long ago, I saw so many posts that were
adamant
that fences and  lots of house time were the criteria for sales.
