Ann,
Usually when they fly horses into the Red Mile or Freedom Hall for the Kentucky
state fair, they are usually chartered planes. Once gain, the people from CA
seem to be the once who do this for the shows in Lexington and Louisville.
When I rode out of Michael Craghead's barn a few years back, it was about
$1500-1700 per horse to get a commercial hauler (by ground in a truck or
trailer) to get them back for the Red Mile and Freedom Hall and it took about
3-4 days with rest breaks to get them back there. Flying from LAX to Lexington
took about 6-8 hours and it was only the cost of $2100 per horse. Most owners
realized it was easier on the horses for a big show like this one and were
there and back home all in the same day. Now, what they dont tell you is that
they usually have 4-5 horses there and yes, someone usually rides down in the
cargo with them

be compared to for ours

One of the things that always amazes me about our National is that we
absolutely MUST have them indoors
in a temperature controlled arena at a huge expense.........and yet when you
look around.......most of the
seating in the arena is empty...... as the Club takes a loss ......and the huge
OUTDOOR Seiger show is held
outdoors with massive crowds.......?
People fly from all over the world for an outdoor Seiger show and yet some of
the same people that want to
go there......won't go to a National in Utah because it isn't in a preferred
area. <G>

That statement is totally inaccurate. The Lexington Kennel Club holds 2
tracking tests a year at the Horse Park.
The previous GSD National had their tracking test at the Horse Park. The
Flat-Coat National & Springer
National had tracking at the Horse Park as well.
