I'm sure many of you have followed the story of Shiloh who got loose from authorities when they removed her from the scene of an accident that took the life of her Rescue Mom....some happiness to a sad story ------------------------------------------------------------------- SHILOH HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!!!!!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Trose4lov2@xxxxxxx @ aol.com Sent: Sunday, May 11, 2008 4:37 PM To: banks_marj@xxxxxxxxxxx @ comcast.net Subject: Shiloh Hi Mrs. Banks If the Good Lord ever made such a beautiful day, it was today. At about 11:45 She stood at the accident site when my husband spotted her, she stood there for a bit listening to her sorta adopted / claimed human grandpa before taking off tward the woods again. Little did she know I made a warm gruel of catfood / baby food liver / peas / carrots / garlic and rice and topped it off with her favorite biscuits. And Mr. Larry AKA gramps set it in the only live trap they had. So when she back tracked thru the woods going past the trap with her mamas blanket laying over the trap and mom's ( Christi's) last of her dirty laundry to make her think she was secure, with that much to the Yuck of my own tongue and nose, this bowl of nice doggy smelling gruel became bait. My daughter and I sat about 1/2 mile from the trap on the other side because we knew she would make her oval track since she was on the move. We had her pinned down to 1/2 mile radius. We all said a prayer this morning and combined with all of yours got Shiloh into the trap about 12:45 this afternoon. Christi's mom was called and all she did was ball when we told her, It was hard enough to spend Mothers day alone for the first time in 21 yrs. But now her daughter assisted us with giving her mother Cathy the last and greatest mothers day gift from her daughter...This being Shiloh. The first fire officer to the scene told us that it was Christi's body that had kept Shiloh alive and safe so that she would not be crushed. Christi even in those last moments of life protected what was so very important to her ... that was her rescue baby Shiloh. I sit here and cry thinking about my memories of Christi and her growing up, helping myself and daughter caring for all the animals we assist. She was such a wonderful volunteer and a beautiful soul. Christi was part of our rescue. There was never a stray around where Christi was, they always came here to us or her house. She would always walk in the door and say.... Hey got any more Food.... We're hungry....then she would turn to my husband and say... Hey POPS do we got a empty place or do ya gotta make one....and laugh.....My husband as good as he is would roll his eyes and say......... well if I gotta then I best be movin....he would mumble... I am ruled by mothering hormones and go to the barn... Christi would laugh as we all would, being a all woman and one man household and sanctuary. So Shiloh rode to my home in the back seat fearful, whimpering and yet in some small way relieved. She does have some injuries, she is covered with ticks and glass, her bloodshot eyes telling the story of not sleeping and the whimpers of pain, grief and finally calming with realizing she is safe with people she knows. Her hip is injured, there is swelling with a low grade fever and I suspect also a few ribs broken too and she can't get comfortable. She is being soothed into laying down for hopefully a nap to release a little stress and ease some of her pain while we wait for the vet to call so we know which office he wants us to take her to. I know she will be sedated and full body x-rays will be done. For the most part I would say she is in fair condition I am not sure how this bill is going to get paid, But Shiloh is a testament to a true rescue worker and the devotion this young woman had, even at a young age of 21. Here are some of the photo's That I have taken. I wanted to tell all of you who prayed, offered help etc a THANK-YOU from all of us. Please share in our bit of happiness in a sea of grief. Found dazed and in pain, confused and grieving Shiloh is finally caught and rescued. Her eyes now knowing what death looks like when it came and claimed her human mama in a fatal car accident Monday 5-5-2008. Granny ( Christi's mom ) trying not to cry and so happy to see me, she told me my mama could not come get me, but I was still granny's girl and I would be going home soon and I could sleep where I felt happy, that was home in mama's bed, she said my mama kept me safe so granny could still have a present for mothers day. Granny did not know what part of me to hug first. She touched me all over, I do not think she missed one spot, guess she wanted to make sure it was me and not an illusion! Should I milk it? I know my granny loves me. Woof! Woof! My daddy gave me a big ol kiss on the nose .....YUCK guy cooties!! Did I ever tell you I don't really like men I thought? Dad laughed and cried but loved me just the same so I guess he was happy to see me. I am covered in Ticks ( 67 so far is the count), my eyes are bloodshot, I stink like old sour water and blood no one cares that I smell. I have some cuts on my belly, neck, arm pits, legs and my feet. I have developed what looks like a eye infection, it could be from scratches from glass. They say I am a princess come home, and you can see all the tired stress leaving my weary body. I am going to try to take a nap at Tonya's house while we wait for the Vet to call. I am crying because my chest and hip hurts and I can't get an asprin because I might have bigger problems, so I will lay on moms blanket with daddy on the floor and he will pet me to sleep like mom and he use too so I am comfortable and it will be the first sleep in days that I felt secure. We will give you up date after I am seen by the vet. Tonya said I will be there a few days at least. P.S. I stole Tonya's cheese and jerky on the dash board of her car..... I was a bad dog but she praised me anyway and said I could have it all! :: Barka Barka :: Sincerely Tonya The Weiner Brigade Inc.
