Interesting I guess..but I prefer the way we do it at our National.
A German Shepherd Dog with a Herding title or any other working title can
compete
in the Breed or ANY regular classes. Why separate them at a conformation
show??
They should be judged at a conformation show for how they compare to the
Breed
Standard.
If they earn a Select with an OFA....they earn Select EXCELLENT.
If they earn Select with an OFA AND a working title, they are given the
Award Of Excellence.
Why separate them in conformation?
We have Obedience and Rally and Herding and SchH...etc. We let Champions
compete in that.

Why not strive for the higher standard of excellence that celebrates the
Breed
according to their Standard....and to do that we should be willing to
actually
COMPETE against other dogs and judged according to our Breed Standard.

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: Room for everyone

The Labrador people do it at specialties. They have a hunting retriever (?)
class. I believe that
is what it is called. Labs who are have hunting titles but may or may not
have conformation CH can
compete in this class against each other.

Are you kidding me? How many classes do we need to justify deviating from
the
standard?
How can we expect to educate new judges, and new people, with all these
inconsistencies?

Heritage-Old
Style, etc. just maybe you would have several dogs attending. Now, I am not

saying to let down on the Breed Standards, just go by the one years ago. I
think
it might be surprising of the owners and dogs attend.

more
GSD's in attendence than AKC. I do live near the UKC Headquarters so do get
to
see both UKC and AKC GSD's. Having the GSD being the 2nd most popular AKC
dog
doesn't seem classes should be so small for them.
