As a programmer I get subscriptions to several expensive trade magazines
free - especially because they know that they will get more advertisers if
they have a larger number of people viewing the ads. Nonmembers should
either be charged a higher rate to advertise or not be allowed the option to
have their ad on the web site. But there will be more incentive for members
to advertise if their ads will reach a larger audience.
