Our situation is slightly different as ours is a "trade" magazine more or less..so our market is more limited...nonetheless the ads are meant as marketing..either a stud dog..a litter..a breeding program..or some type of promotion of the aforementioned. We want people to either join the PC..or subscribe to the magazine...if we give them everything on our PC site...what is the benefit of joining...as it is ..we have very little benefits from the PC...we have to pay for every single thing...even the Parade of Greats...so if you make ads available to Jon Q public for free. viewing..then his benefits are nearly equal to a members. Now..to be quite frank..my heart is not really into debating this..with all that is going on with our friends in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama...I have either been glued to the TV..or trying to get in touch with those in the area..checking to see daily of they are ok. usually takes most the day to get one phone call through. C.Grainger We're just approaching it a little differently. I don't believe that "seeing" the ads is such a great benefit. I do believe that the more people that see ads, the better that is for the advertiser. The Review itself should not be free for viewing online, just the advertisements so more people will advertise. The Review itself *should* be marketed on the excellent articles it publishes and the information it disseminates. People should have to pay for that. Besides, even if I did get the entire Review online, I'd still want the hardcopy magazine, and I believe many others would as well. I've already addressed what I think should be done to increase the benefits of membership in a previous post (and you mentioning the Parade of Greats, I completely support Lew Bunch's idea of FREE or at the least a minimal charge for Parade of Greats). I also wrote the following and still stand by it: ********** I believe there should be educational & informational stuff on the GSDCA website available for all to see. When people do a google search, they should be pulling up the GSDCA website to find out about health issues, training issues, and how wonderful our dogs are. This information should be directed toward the general pet person. Indepth or detailed information could be referred to behind the membership wall. If you want access to articles that have been in the Review, then join. However, you could read summaries in the general area. I also believe that all advertisements should be available for all to see. ********** So, Christine, I'm not disagreeing with you, I also think we need to keep a lot of stuff as a membership benefit. I just don't understand how SEEING an ADVERTISEMENT is or should be a membership benefit.
