Many articles have been sent, only to be ignored due to
space restrictions. Yet we can admit results, with pictures, of
shows four to six months ago. I am not knocking Susan at all, but I
am one of those who eagerly awaited the Review and spent all day
pouring over the articles, the interviews, and the adds. This last
one -----five minutes max.

The Spotter used to have the rule too of the amount of editorial content vs.
advertising, but as time has gone on, we have changed that a little bit -
especially to keep our performance folks involved. We always have at least two
performance articles in our magazine and therefore, we almost always have
performance ads too - people are proud of their dogs..
I LOVED the Dave Rinke interview! To me, that was one of the most educational
things I have read in the Review. I have an old Review with an interview in it
with the Fords.. Love those...
Small side story, my mom is being interviewed for the Spotter this time. She
got her first obedience dog right around the time Paul Johnson was training his
Golden Retriever (?) in obedience. My mom got her first Dal right about the
time Paul got his first GSD.. Now you know how long my mom has been in the
sport (sorry to age you Paulie J!)...
I really think it is up to the club members to support with articles - don't
just blame the times, the money, etc... I am sure there are lots of good
writers out there - time to step up to the plate :-)
BTW: The Spotter is on-line, but we still send out hardcopies too - people use
them as a resource so those will never go away.
