The reason leadership could be lacking is because most good leaders are
reluctant to get caught in this spiraling abyss of getting no where, and
visiting and revisiting issues that should have been resolved months if not
years ago. Who wants to step up to a mess?When we have a good leaders,
others "plot" to get them out, doesn't take long to figure out that an
extreme amount of energy is spent by some scheming before the next election
for their own personal agendas trying to figure out who they can get rid of
that voted against them..and who they can get in that will vote with them.
That is why you end up with "factions" within the Board, when you have
factions, nothing gets accomplished quickly, and everything keeps getting
tabled to the next meeting. I can think of a few good leaders that are
fair, unbiased, who aren't "popular" so to speak, that I think would make
good Board members, they aren't "owned" by anyone, nor have they been
courted by one faction or the other to run for the board.Yet they won't
run, because they are not middle of the road sort of people, they make
waves when they need to, they speak up for what is right, they are
statesmen, not politicians.Unfortunately, the world is run by feel good
words, not action, that is why statesmen are often a threat to
politicians, and organizations are left to be run by the "talkers" and not
the "doers" the politician doesn't care if anything gets accomplished, he
is concerned primarily with keeping his position and the perks that go
along with it, so he just keeps saying what he thinks the public wants to
hear, tries to maintain his popularity by being "nice" and going through
the motions of looking like he is accomplishing something, when in fact
nothing is getting done. However, he is "likable". doesn't make too many
waves, and is a pro a double talk and riding the fence. the politician and
the con artist have much in common.So people vote them in and then bitch
because nothing is getting accomplished. Wonder why?
