Growing up we were well aware that dogs were dogs....not kids......horses
were horses....not kids......same with any of the animals around us....they
were just animals. Yes, we had our favorites, yes we spoiled them at times
(carrots and sugar and apples to the horses and anything you didn't want
on your plate to the dogs), but when they acted like.......animals!.......we
were not surprised.

Now, they are our children, our buddies, our soulmates.....and when they
act like dogs we are dumbfounded that our "child" is acting like....a dog!!
And the clothing, the aroma therapy, the doggy daycares.....the pet
industry is a multiple BILLION dollar a year industry. And we (general we)
have
less control on our dogs than ever!

Because my grandfather had a farm, we ended up with many "lost" (read
dumped) dogs in the farm. Kids were not allowed to handled or be by themselves
with these dogs until grandma said they were safe.

Funny, the worst dog in the neighborhood was a damned Bull Dog, show lines,
that was quite the athlete and if he got out, we knew we had a heck of a
race on the way home from school. Until our Doberman came out one day.
Game over.

I have suffered two serious dog bites in my life. One from that Bull Dog
and one from a .....wait for it....Maltese.....little punk!

I can say from my heart, that German Shepherds have really spoiled
me.....love these guys.

Love me, love my dogs.

This is the best line as always. Dog owners that support going after a
breed ...you are shooting yourself in the foot.
There is always a people problem. Properly trained, socialized and
supervised animals don't become problems as a rule.

Punish the deed, not the breed. This breed is so misrepresented and
misunderstood....I pray our breed never goes thru this.
