Last weekend at this time I was enjoying the Reno Weekend, eating some great
food, hanging out with Evan (buying T-shirts, gambling some, laughing alot)
and Paula who is still wondering about what I grabbed....haha

I had wanted to post something about the weekend because once again I
realized that it does take a village to raise a child and it does take many of
us to
put on a great dog show. This morning I read a post from Alycia Partei
wanting to know what others spent on an average dog show weekend. Please take
a few
minutes and respond to Alycia, send me a copy too because this is the data I
would like to collect and share with other Regional Clubs.

Now back to Reno, Alycia, her husband Scott, her Dad, Dave and her Mother,
Linda are the Reno Club. Now you add Doris Estabrook and Bill Peterson to help
run the show and you begin to wonder just how this wonderful weekend happens.
Now start to notice the wonderful food prepared by other folks, Eric, Joan,
Paul, Ben and I am sure others. You watch as Cindy, Ruth, Tedi and others help
set up and take down the ring. You listen as everyone thanks Evan for going
out and buying some ribs for the after show dinner and you hear Terry's camera
clicking, recording everything.

So, thank you Reno and all you wonderful people who have given me so many new
ideas that will help all of the Regional Clubs, especially those with just a
few members who wonder how they can continue to host the shows. We have
learned that you MUST depend upon your exhibitors to help and they will.

For those of you who want a first hand lesson, plan on going to Reno next
year. Even if you don't show, take a day or two to go enjoy the sights, the
city, the wonderful people and the really nice dogs. It will give you a lift.

And if you are lucky you might also find those wonderful teenage boys who
managed to harvest a nice bunch of crawfish right from the river running
alongside the show grounds. They boiled them for the club's dinner and they
were
great too.

Sorry this is so long but let me tell you, go visit Reno, you will love it.
