I totally agree with both of you . The Regional challenge is for the regional
clubs and if they want to have this as a way to strengthen the regional clubs
as a whole then why let people from outside their club compete. I feel sorry
for those that don't have a club to join but if they want to compete let them
have a prize for the individual with the most points earned in events. Make it
a provision that the person lives at least 200 miles from any Regional club.
To let people join from outside there region is just silly and really takes
away from the competition between the clubs.
Last year the Oregon club was disallowed around 150 points for what ever
reason. I never really could figure it out. We had to live with that decision.
My question is if you are not going to count a life time member as part of your
club then why would you allow an associate member outside the area count
towards membership ?? Doesn't seem right to me.
For example I have been a member of the Oregon club for 20 plus years.
According to our bylaws that makes me a lifetime member. I would not count
towards the membership of our club. I am the President and have been for about
4 years now.
My guess is if you allow this to take place you will see the end of the
Regional club challenge.

Very well put. It's one thing to have an associate member, oh maybe in a
100 mile radius. I understand that there are areas where it may be hard to
find a regional club to call "home". But IMO, soliciting "associate members"
for the purpose of counting points from someone who has no interaction w/ a
particular regional club would be the death of the Regional Challenge.
