When I originally decided on the name I called AKC to make sure it wasn't
registered, they certainly didn't have a problem with it or mention any
other
breeders to me. Whatever....
And other folks on the list talk about how unfriendly it is to show if you
are starting out. I'm not just starting out, never met you (or ever want to
at
this point), and definitely feel personally attacked. >>
This is an interesting reply to the lady from BlackOaks. Just out of
curiosity, if you knew that the name was already being used in any form, why
would you
have wanted to use it? It IS customary not to use a kennel name someone else
already has as it does lead to confusion among people as to what dog is
connected to what breeder's kennel and most people who are serious about
showing DO
end up showing 'in the same circles' eventually and who is to say where dogs
carrying a kennel name may end up.
I don't think there was any 'personal attack' here by this other person. She
has a legitimate concern and has taken steps to fix it. If she has worked
hard
over a period of years to build a good name and a good repuatation as a
responsible dog person, then she has the right to not 'want to share' her
kennel
name.
I know neither of you personally but find your position rather
unsupportable.
