Recent BOG â?? AWSA Position clarification
I would like to clarify or elaborate on the following bullet from the GSDAC
BOD.
White German Shepherd Dog Federation
After hearing from representatives of the American White Shepherd Association
and the White German Shepherd Dog Federation, the board voted to allow all
AKC-registered German Shepherd Dogs, regardless of color or other disqualifying
physical faults, to be eligible to compete for the titles of Agility, Herding
and Obedience Victor/Victrix at the National trials.

The American White Shepherd Association (AWSA) was invited by the GSDCA Board
to speak at the January Board Working Session Friday Jan 27, 2012.   AWSA
spent time and money to again attend another GSDCA Board meeting to present our
case, only to find out decisions were already made prior to us even making our
presentation.
What AWSA is asking for:  German Shepherd Dog Club of America Board to Draft
a letter to the American Kennel Club that it will NOT protest the AKC
establishing the White Shepherd as a separate breed within the Foundation Stock
Service program.
AWSA is committed to establishing the White Shepherd/Berger Blanc Suisse as
distinct breed in the United States.
This is an entirely separate issue than the objectives of the White German
Shepherd Dog clubs.   AWSA recognizes and respects the desires of those
groups to have their dogs remain as GSDs under  the AKC/GSDCA umbrella, but
our goal to establish  the White Shepherd/Berger Blanc Suisse as a distinct
AKC Breed are entirely separate and have nothing to do with those goals.
AWSA is NOT seeking to gain any inclusiveness of the white coated GSD within
the AKC GSDCA
Regardless of any concessions the GSDCA Board makes regarding the white coated
GSD, AWSA is firmly committed in establishing the White Shepherd/Berger Blanc
Suisse as a distinct breed within AKC.   The rest of the world has moved
on.  This breed is flourishing elsewhere, including Germany, and recognized as
a separate and distinct breed by the SV, as well as the FCI.
FYI: The Berger Blanc Suisse Standard

AWSA will continue to pursue every avenue possible to establish the White
Shepherd/Berger Blanc Suisse breed with AKC.
