Here's a true story. I remarried after a long period of single bliss (I
attribute this to temporary insanity). Tom was not a very happy person; he
like to argue and scream. My dogs didn't appreciate his temper tantrums. My
favorite male shared the house with a very stable, confident Hammer daughter.
When he would start ranting, they would give him dirty looks and slowly walk
away and sit in their crates. Tom went into the closet to get his new loafers
and noticed one shoe had been chewed. Luvie had opened the door, took the lid
off the shoe box, removed one of the loafers and chewed the tongue on just one
shoe. She then put the shoe back in the box, replaced the lid and closed the
door. He was furious; I was NOT sympathetic. I asked him if he had gotten the
message. He did a few years later when he was shown to the door. :-)
