I believe you can produce bloat with poor husbandry, but with my bitch's bloat I now FIRMLY BELIEVE in a genetic predisposition from some bloodlines. Betty Johnson Betty, That is the key to bloat/torsion. If it is in the lines, you may not be able to prevent it. However, using probiotics, elevating food bowls, reducing stress and limiting exercise after and before eating can certainly help. It's not a guarantee if it is genetic but sure can't hurt.
