Now you folks are reminding me of some real neat memories.
SWEETWATER, TEXAS!! Every spring they have a "rattlesnake
roundup" and it is awesome. Yes they do cook them and they are
a bit like the white meat of a chicken. I attended 2 times a few years
apart. What got me tho the last visit was -- Aaack -- They are given
money for the poundage as they're weighed. Ok, there is an old stump
in the middle of this huge arena where they have the "celebration etc."!
Seriously, this stump was the same both years -- I didn't eat much that
second year as they laid the snake over it and chopped it's head off to
do it in. However, something really good was done first, they had them
bite onto a covered glass so they could save the venom for the medical
world for our protection. Interesting, but not what some folks would
want every day but then there are some who are Ok with it. To make
this GSD related, I'd go into that area for shows and always loved to be
anywhere in Texas as they're people are so good and the judges they
always have are Da Best like Da List is Da Best --- Ha! Norma no L
