[ SHOWGSD-L ] Rap sheets and Pedigrees

Rap sheet is slang for "arrest history"....I used to get into friendly
arguments with co-workers about placing too much importance on arrest histories
when we were trying to figure out which one of our "suspects" was responsible
for which ever crime.....I used to debate my position on pedigrees being
over-rated as a tool for breeding dogs...important yes, but over-rated.....to
me the most important dogs in a litter's pedigree are dam and sire!...I don't
 look anything like my grand- parents, but I sure look a lot like my
dad!....and my out-cross, bi-racial son looks nothing like anyone in his
pedigree!.....breeding is a crap shoot.....I have a 5 month old bitch sired by
an Army son and out of a Teejay ( German line) daughter...this is as big an
out-cross as I have ever done!....I keep waiting for this 5 month old bitch to
go "south"...with few exceptions she is better than almost all the dogs I
bought as show dogs......and she looks like her sire!....nothing at all like
her dam, with the exception of her rich black/red pigment!...one of my former
students bought a male from this litter...I saw him yesterday...he too is
almost as nice!...I repeated this litter...I can't wait to see what these guys
look like.....my grand-mother used to say.." you won't get what you want until
you want what you have"...took years for me to understand that...Ed Hill
