[ SHOWGSD-L ] Rainbow Bridge

Hi Folks;
Early Saturday morning our Akita, CH. Orion's Darkside of the Moon crossed over
the bridge. Piper was our first Akita, and I have to say she made me
love her and the breed. Even though she was Frank's dog, I was the one who
showed her,finished her, and absolutely adored her. Piper or Pooh Bear
as she was affectionitly known went to many GSD Specialities and to a National
at Perry , where she was down in the ready ring grubbing food
from Billy and Henry her friends from the AB shows.
Piper would have been 14 on May 11th, she was in great shape and even went ot
the Akita National in October,and there was not a dry eye in the
house as she entered the ring for the parade of Title Holders. I awoke at 3:30,
because I heard her breathing heavy, I gave her some water, kissed
her and told her to just rest, a few minutes later her heart just stopped. I
think she waited for me to awake and say goodbye. This was an Akita,
who loved life, people and other animals, she did not have a mean bone in her
body.
One thing I will always remember is the day Pooh finished her championship, I
had her stacked the Judge was going over her and asked me" does
she think she's a German Shepherd" ? I looked down and Piper had moved her one
back leg under her and was standing like a GSD. I answered
with, " well, she lives with seven of them". Now she can run in peace over the
bridge with all her buddies,
