Maybe we need to look at corporate actions as Mars does not as the
actions of American Capitalists but as those of Global Capitalists.
That is allegedly supporting The Human Society of the United States in
the U.S. and supporting inhuman treatment of children/animals in
Africa. BTW does anyone know if Mars is still supporting child slavery
in the production of cocoa in Africa?
If you read the analysis of AB 1634 at the web site Stormy sent out, you
will find The Human Society of the United States as a supporter.
Also, multiple other sources suggest they-HSUS aka USHS are closely
associated with the animal rights folks--at least in goals if not in
means!!!
The pet industry, according to one source, is the seventh largest
industry in the nation at $34 billion. In contrast, federal child
welfare programs are funded at about $16 billion. Veterinarians
according to the same source, made $17 billion in providing services to
pets. USHS in contrast has some 113 billion in assets and is reported
to spend $2 billion a year for travel--it is a Global Organization--just
like Mars.

are not the same. The USHS formed from the National Humane Association
in about the 1950s--reports suggest that many PETA staffers became a
part of the organization. Its' "publicly presented" principles and
beliefs can be seen at the above URL. Read these closely--this is not
an "animal welfare" organization. It is an "animal rights"
organization. For folks in the pet industry-us in the dog fancy-it may
best be likened to the wolf in sheep's clothing of the Little Red Riding
Hood story. It presents itself as a sheep--i.e. "animal welfare"--and
then becomes a wolf-"animal rights" advocate as it works to eradicate
the breeding of purebred dogs.
In contrast, the American Humane is centered on "animal welfare." Its
goal is to "protect animals through positive advocacy and action." Its'
web site page with this statement is at

is the oldest organization and the one that is active in child welfare.
It should not be confused with The Humane Society of the United States.
