SURE........as long as there is some way to let them know WHY!!! It doesn't do
any good for a few of us to not show up! There is a GSDC of Long Beach.....
So if the GSD people don't show up because we have people like Paul and you
keeping us informed.....but 2,400 other dogs show up....does Eukanuba care...are
they worried about losing shows......or even aware!? This is a powerful Org.
That's my point. We need UNITED effort.....help from other major Organizations
and Breeds and Stores and Vets and AKC to be able to even put a dent in it.
HOW do we incorporate all this available knowledge into power......make them
understand and become willing to help us. We're but a ripple in the ocean
until
we do.....
While Paul is trying to call us to arms......and help us understand the battle,
we
are losing the war.

Well, this is slightly off the mark here...but what about passing the
word to NOT support any shows or events of any kind that are held in Long
Beach, CA? There is no dog breeding of any kind allowed in Long Beach... and
yet, this is where the AKC is taking the Eukanuba Invitational next year
(again!)
Check it out -- not only BSL, but no breeding of dogs at all! Why
anyone involved in dogs would conduct any business at all in Long Beach is
beyond me...and the Eukanuba pet show is not even a place where one can earn
points of any kind...why go? I believe there is an all-breed club there--don't
enter, and don't go! Make sure they know why you are not going to spend even
39cents in Long Beach!
If a place is that unfriendly to dogs, someone tell me why any dog person
should go there!!!!
Now, there's a place to start -----------------!!!

into the area where Westminster, and Eukanuba shows are held....much like our
Super Bowls and Play Offs in Sport. The Politicians in those Cities need to
know
just how much these events of Pure Bred dogs bring into their coffers.....
The Public and Politicians need to know that this is an event and an era that
they
are close to losing because of the radicals blitzing us with these wild fires
of
Bills.
The Animal Planet ( if they will ) that features these Events needs to have
some
of this information on how these bills affect the good honest Breeders made
available
and presented to the Public that watches.
If all the Breeders are taken out.....they will all lose huge Revenue.
The Public needs to have this information up front and in their face. We
cannot
continue to just keep stomping out the wild fires of bills that are blitzing
us....
The Politicians that are blindly pushing these Bills thinking they are taking
care of
mankind need to be reminded just how much revenue is brought in from Pure Bred
Dogs with our shows, our Vets, the local stores, dog food, etc. and brings
pleasure
to the public as their much loved and needed pets.
The Vets need to get on this bandwagon also. Most Vets that cater to
Breeders are
the most successful Vets in an area. The Depts. of Sheriff and Police need to
be
made aware that their sources for their dogs are about to be put out of
business.
We need the help of AKC, Vets, Pet Stores, Dog Food Companies, Vet Catalogs,
etc.
We can't do it all on this List. Paul has made us aware and he keeps us up to
date
and works hard fighting this and raising our awareness....but we need to know
how
to back him up with POWER.
We need the Public on OUR SIDE and INFORMED.....maybe the Politicians will
listen
then. We need to expose these organizations for what they really are....
HOW DO WE DO ALL THIS?
We're ready.........we're willing .......and we are overwhelmed.

Tell us more about RALEEF. Is there a plan to have a website or a link/page
from the Parent Club's site? Is the committee looking at writing a mission
statement, goals or objectives? How can we help or what can we do (in
addition to donating to the cause) when RALEEF shows up at a Futurity or
show like the Triangle? If I were to walk away with information/brochures
from the RALEEF table, should I start posting it on bulletin boards in pet
stores/veterinarian offices/super markets?
Are there organizations run by different breed clubs that have similar goals
and objectives? If so, will RALEEF study those organizations and learn
about what is going right and what isn't?
You know, I read your initial post and had these questions, but admittedly I
took a wait and see attitude. Keep telling us what this committee means to
us and how we can play a role in the helping to save our breed and our
sport. It appears as though there isn't going to be an overnight solution
to the dilemma we are in, so keep the faith and be patient with what you
might perceive as apathy. The stakes are high, and as one fancier in the
big sea of purebred dogs, I might initially think there isn't really
anything I could do to really make a difference. Educate us. Refer us to
online resources (if/when available) and keep coming back with the message.
