How is it possible to deny BOB competition access to dogs and bitches that
are eligible according to AKC rules governing the exhibition of pure bred dogs?
It is appears impossible to keep an AKC Champion of record (or the winner's dog
or winners bitch awarded the day before at the National)who is eligible for the
Best of Breed competition out of the ring. The AKC has set the rules.
The GSDCA has already established a title which includes a "gun shot" sound
shy test.
It is the TC.
Anyone is free to participate in any of the venues with their dog for which
said dog is eligible.
A "gunshot test" already exists within the frame work of the Temperament
Certification.

When, on Saturday morning, before the judging the Best of Breed competition
commences at the GSDCA National specialty show, would you suggest that we start
firing off gun shots for the possible 110 Specials entered?
Would this test be conducted individually, or would all dogs entered be
required to be in the ring for all possible 110 gun shots?
How long do you anticipate it would take?
Did you mean to suggest that the "gun shot test" for the Best of Breed
Competition dogs and bitches would take place somewhere other and some time
other than the Breed Ring on Saturday Morning?
(The judging schedule indicates that the opening ceremonies begin at 7:45 AM.
Usually, the judging takes all day Saturday).
(The entire week schedule is already pretty demanding).
Would the AKC have some "say-so" about "gun-shots" fired in the Best of Breed
Competition Ring prior to judging?
If your suggestion is other that the Breed Ring (when most spectators
interested would be there), where and when do you suggest the "gun-shot" test
be conducted?
With how many observers present?
Are you suggesting that the Parent Club establish another test mandatory
before a "Special" could compete in the Best of Breed competition Class? Need
the AKC approve?
Many Champions are already TC titled.
Would these Champions be required to repeat the "gunshot" portion of the test?
When and where?
Are you suggesting that all Best of Breed competition animals at the National
Specialty Show be kept out (eliminated from and not eligible) of the Breed Ring
to meet further standards other than those already required by the GSD Standard
and the AKC?
Why isn't the program and title already established and in place called the
TC sufficient?
If it isn't, why isn't it?
Is there a German Shepherd Dog breeder on planet earth who wakes up one
morning and says to himself/herself,
"I think I want to breed a litter of "spooks" next week." and means it?

I don't think anyone, who is sane, does it intentionally, but it
happens... we all know and accept that.
I do not have a single clue how to implement it... I have my hands more than
full with the GSDCA Health & Genetics Committee, working on the Breed's Health
Issues..
But I have full confedence in the ability and know-how of the people in
this Breed to figure that out... I agree it will take some thinking ;outside
the box', but I believe if there are enough people interested and willing to
work, it can come to pass and not be a burden of time or energy or expense,
etc...
It could be done on a day prior to the Special's Class Judging . ..and
they could be evaluated one at a time.. JMO barb williams
