Being from a Horse background the only thing we ever used to re-hab leather was Neatsfoot Oil, the pure stuff. Lexol is very good, but will not re-hab the really tough cases. Dampen the lead a bit, SOAK it in neatsfoot, and hang it for a couple of days to dry, wipe off excess if any. I will do the job, but is hardcore rehab for difficult old leather.
