[ SHOWGSD-L ] Question about entry fees for show secretaries

Hi List,
I have a question for show secretaries whose shows
draw Canadian entries. Do you have any problems with
cashing checks for entries drawn on Canadian banks? Do
the U.S. banks typically charge a service charge to
cash these checks?
I am trial chairman for the Fort Worth German Shepherd
Dog Club. We don't usually get entries from Canada,
but this trial we did. Our treasurer believes that
since the entry fee check is from a Canadian bank we
will have trouble cashing it and will be subject to
extra charges.
Can someone tell me of their experience in this
situation. Thanks for your help.
