We did an experiment at home and put kibble into glasses of warm water and left
them overnight.??
Iams, Eukanuba, Pro-Plan, & Canidae all expanded 2-4 times the size of the
kibble!!
Royal Canin GSD formula stayed the exact same size.?

Not to get into the issue of soaking or not soaking food it really is
everyone's
preference.? I have always soaked food.? It amazes me to see the kibble expand
and think that this happens in their stomach after eating and drinking water.?
There is belief that by soaking?it cuts down on the chance of bloat.? There are
different opinions on that also.? I was mentored?to?soak, however I have to
admit I do not soak as long as I use to.?
I think in the case of the puppies choking, I can see it happening either way.?
I soak and grind puppy food until I feel their teeth can handle the kibble,
otherwise they are just going to gulp it down without chewing.? I think its a
sad and freak accident for these poor puppies and their owners.?

I am so sorry for everyone that lost puppy's while eating, that does sound
like a freak accident. But I am wondering, did everyone that lost puppies soak
the food? I think Christine said she had not soaked her puppies food, but if I
remember correctly, every one else did. We never soak our food, and I don't
want to get into that argument, but I do mix water with the food and a little
canned dog food. I was always told not to soak the food as it destroys the
integrity of the vitamins/minerals and probiotics on the food. When they are
little I grind the food up and mix it with water and canned food. AS they get
bigger I don't grind it. I wonder if the soaked food, helps them to gulp down
their food faster then if they had to chew it more. Just a thought.
