My dog Mick is six years old. He has a Jolly Ball. He has always liked balls
since he was old enough to walk. His ball is a big plastic one with the holes
so that he can pick it up with the ball inside. Mick is very attached to this
silly ball. He has had it since he was six months old. When he goes outside he
first has to race around the yard and find it. He will not do his business
until he finds that ball and usually it is hanging out of his mouth. He has
broken all his canine teeth on it, managed to get the ball inside out and the
silly thing is not even round anymore. There is a brand new one just like it
that has been in the yard for two years and he will not even touch it. His old
raggedy ball is to the point where I am afraid that he is going to cut his
mouth up on it and I would like to take it away from him. He is like a child
with a favorite toy. Maybe some of you dog trainers out there can advise me on
how to separate him from this ball without him needing a
  psych
iatrist. I know it sounds silly but if you saw him with this ball you would
understand. If he cannot find it he just races around like a crazy dog looking
for it. I would like him to try and play with the new ball. Help please!
