When I read things like this it always makes me wonder........... ( a dangerous
thing )

SOOOOooooo does this make a judge more "honest" to restrict them from using a
handler for
four months before/or after they contract their own dog shown? If four
months makes a judge more
honest.....just think how much integrity EIGHT months would bring out into the
sport of dog shows.

Would 3 months make them just "borderline honest".......and 6 months just a
"tad more honest" than
4 months....? .....and would 8 months make them twice as honest....? I just
often wonder where this
arbitrary number comes from in a lot of things. Four months is just part of
the show season......but certainly
not all of it.........so what REAL difference does it really make..........?
It DOES restrict handlers from handling for a judge they want to exhibit
under.....and it DOES restrict a
judge from contracting a handler for their own dog ..........but how does it
make the sport more honest?
Does 4 months make a handler now not seek out judges that they know they can &
will win under.....does the
4 months make a judge suddenly look at dogs and never handlers......? I
wonder if the double handlers
should be restricted from doubling under a judge..... if they won under a
Judge's co owner or with the
Judges handler..........within a 4 month period of course. <G>
I wonder if a judge should not show under another Judge that just put their dog
'up' ..........in a period of
4 months of course.......<G>
If a judge is actively exhibiting dogs.....does a judge now go back on their
Calendar before an assignment,
and make sure they note any handlers they have used......to the day......
within a four month time frame of the
their assignment......and make a note of watching for that handler to not enter
their ring........and therefore
because that is on their mind.....become suddenly "honest" if they were not
honest before......?
Will the sport of showing dogs NOW be "clean"......... or will this just cause
more people to be in trouble
and under scrutiny while everyone checks the Calendars.....because of a
week........or a day or so........?
I wonder.................? Wasn't there a song by that name

Of course, this is NOT exactly a rule....it is a change to the Judges'
Guidelines, which means it can be
applied when AKC thinks it should, and not applied (in other words, ignored)
the rest of the time.

If you use the services of an agent, instruct the agent that he/she, any

of your household while in your employ and for at least four months after
working for you. In addition,
you or a member of your household must not knowingly use the services of an
agent, any member
of the agent?s household, or any handling associate of the agent to handle
your dog(s) for at
least four months after that agent has exhibited under you. This policy
