I do it all the time, with both registered names and call. I don't share
these names for fear somebody else may have them (or take them). Take Strauss
for example, I found out only after I named him that there were two other dogs
named Strauss (A Basset and a Bouvier) but neither of them are named for the
same reason.
Both of those dogs had registered names that dealt with Levi Strauss Jeans.
My Strauss is named for the Austrian Violinist, Ricard Strauss, hence his
registered name, S Konzert vom Drachenberg.
