Most people with a dog such as you described Laura would not take the time nor have the patience to do what you did. They are fortunate to have had your support. Nowadays unfortunately everyone wants instantaneous results with little effort. I have another suggestion for a dog that has been traumatized and has a serious confidence problem. When a dog needs a shot of confidence and you can find a 'puppy class' to take that dog for training and re-socialization it gives the dog a big ego boost. Any dog in their right mind would never hurt a puppy, and puppies are very cognizant of pecking order with an older dog being alpha. Another way, if available, to boost confidence in a GSD is to get them out herding sheep. The power they feel in controlling is an automatic confidence booster. I'm so glad they are seeing results with their girl and hope she continues to 'recover', and kudos to you for being a responsible breeder.
