Any positive move should be applauded, so my observations are just
that...observations. If all the runs have to be removed and new
(reconditioned) ones
put up, Why not look for another property w/out the dogs, as long as all the
runs have to be redone, etc.? Unless the point is to save those dogs there,
too? Check the zoning, see if the license for having the dogs is
transferable, see the condition of the house, (if a caretaker is living there,
it has to
be habitable), taxes, zoning, etc., etc.
As far as comparable in California. Yes, you can find a house that could be
renovated on property out here in the high desert for a similar amount (about
5 acres w/water). Rural, zoned, property that would be desirable would be
lots, lots more. But seriously, who would want to start a refuge for dogs in
California's legislative climate rightnow anyway. South Dakota or Utah
anybody??? :-)
