Have patience and I will go up into the attic and see if I can find it for you. I can then scan it and email it to you. It has been a long time and, frankly I can't really remember exactly what her article said. Cynthia I seem to remember something about a theory (maybe old wives tale!) that the "female, XX" sperm was slightly more viable and there used to be the thought when to breed in a heat cycle to increase the chance of girls...IF that's true, wouldn't it be to breed early, a little pre-ovulation (then I guess once the eggs were through the fallopian tubes the XY sperm would be weaker, less viable and therefore less likely to be the "one" that fertilized, etc.) for more girls? But that really could be antidotal and with most of us breeding every other or every third day, it's probably just a roll if the dice, lol. BTW, this is fun, I googled it and come up w/ a book re BT; "He was, as will be recalled, one of the earliest and most enthusiastic breeders of the Boston, and is now a scientific breeder of choice dairy stock. We had been discussing a number of problems in regard to raising stock, when he exclaimed: â??Mr. Axtell, I believe I have discovered the problem of sex breeding. If I want heifer calves, I breed the cow as soon as she comes in season. If a bull calf is wanted, the cow is served just before going out of season.â?? And said he, â??In nineteen experiments I have only been unsuccessful once, and I think you might try the same plan with your Bostons.â?? I have since done so, and although not nearly the same measure of success has attended my experiments as his, yet by breeding bitches at the close of the heat rather than at its commencement, the number of males in a litter has materially increased."
