I use piddle pads in the inside run. Then I reduce the area that the pads
cover. The puppies learn to go to the piddle pad and as they get older they
can hold it more and then they chose to go outside. I purchase the pads, which
are really for bed ridden people, in the human department at Walmart. They
have a plastic backing and are quilted for absorbency. They are not expensive
and can be rolled up small and put into the garbage.

Good Morning -
After several years and a new house (new with regards to never raising a litter
n it), I am having
y first litter. I have been involved with many/many litters in the past
and when we have done puppies, we always used newspapers, but that was
ecause they were mostly indoor pups or indoors and then out in a yard
hen people were home.
In my new situation, here is the goal - puppies will be in the house from birth
o 6 weeks - on papers in a large ex-pen.
At
6 weeks, because our days are long and the weather should be nice, I am
going to move them to a secured indoor, outdoor run. They will have
heir wire crate on papers inside, but will be able to go through the
og door to go outside. Because the run is on a concrete slab, I am
rying to figure out if I should have a box with shavings that they can
earn to use (and will start off inside in their pen in the basement) or
if I should continue to use inkless newsprint.
What is everyone's experience and what works best. These are Dalmatian puppies,
o pretty good sized kids...
