[ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: Provisional Judges and AKC Reps

Out of curiosity...
I have been to two All Breed shows recently, where this topic came up. At
the one show, a Judge put up a dog, who was not the "popular" vote (but most
shepherd people would agree definitely was deserving of the win).
Afterwards, while waiting for pictures, she commented on the dog she had
dumped, and mentioned that she was glad she was no longer a provisional
judge, or she was sure the AKC Reps would be saying something to her about
her judging. Evidently, while she was a provisional, she was approached
more than once by AKC reps, and was basically told she needed to put certain
popular dogs BOB, as they would be expecting them in the Group Ring.... or
something to that effect.
Paul opines...
I'm sorry...but this juz is a stretch. AKC Reps rarely if ever, even speak
to most provisional Judges other than to evaluate them or answer questions
the Judge may have. If it is true...it shouldn't be hard to get that Rep
sacked in a heart beat.
I do know that Group politics is a mighty force but there are Judges that
don't play the game. I offer a 'tip o' da hat' to those and ran into a few
juz last week in Tucson. You could tell the difference in a heart beat so it
makes me wonder how a provisional Judge could be asked to alter the practice
of judging dogs and become a willing sycophant of an AKC Rep.
