[ SHOWGSD-L ] Protien-losing enteropathy

Hi everyone,
                    We have a GSD that has been off food, getting very skinny, 
smells bad and the vet 
believes (the tests so far do to)  that he has Protien-losing enteropathy,
The dog runs in the country and is around other dogs, horses etc.

Any one hear of this in GSD? Any ideas for treatment?
