[ SHOWGSD-L ] Proposed Standard for the Perfect Specialty Show

GENERAL APPEARANCE: The __________ Specialty is a well-established
German Shepherd Dog specialty show, well-filled with exhibitors both
round and oval in shape. An occasional square is acceptable, though not
desirable.
WEATHER - Sunny and mild. MAJOR FAULTS: Rain, strong winds.
Temperatures below 60 degrees or above 75 degrees must be penalized
according to the degree with which they interfere with the purpose for
which this show is held. SKY: Any color save blue is unacceptable.
TEMPERAMENT - Exhibitors should be friendly and confident with no
suggestion of coarseness. Both dogs and handlers are alert and exhibit
interest in their surroundings. MAJOR FAULTS: Timid or aggressive dogs
and/or handlers.
MOVEMENT: The ___________Specialty moves briskly when viewed from any
angle. Judges should be well laid back yet move thoroughly through
their paces. MAJOR FAULTS: Underfast or overfast.
ATTENDANCE: A distinguishing characteristic which sets this show apart
from all others. An abundant crowd, covering the entire show grounds,
flowing in from all across the nation.
I wrote this back in 1984 for the 4th Independent Specialty in
another breed.....but please feel free to use it for your own specialty
shows...........just fill in the blanks with the name of your club!
