It seems to me that this issue was discussed in the past when a long standing
GSDCA member bred a dog achieving her ROM but the owner at the time was a non
member, the Board voted not to give the plaque to that dog. There was a
lengthy discussion but the end result was that if you give non AKC awards to
non GSDCA members, then you devalue the membership in the GSDCA and create a
reason for people not to have any incentive to join.
Granted it is the dog achieving the status of ROM but it is the owner who
plans the breedings, spends the dollars to get to that end result, and has the
incentive to do so provided by the Parent club. Patty Downing
