Lee, I don't equate stating the importance of an individual's vote with complaining, and I'm not sure how you could have read it that way? Neither did I propose that we do the election over. If I were making proposals, I would suggest that we change the P&P to read that all bios MUST be included on the ballot, and I would make someone responsible for that, even if the bio had to be dictated over the telephone at the last minute. Gail suggested that her own computer problems may have been the reason her bio was left off, and I have not blamed anyone for that, but I do believe that Gail is at a distinct disadvantage in this election because Ken's bio is on the ballot and her's isn't. Folks seem to think that this list is a source of information for all GSDCA members. The truth is, the membership total of this list is less than half the GSDCA's, and when I was an administrator (from day one until last year) it was not uncommon to see only five or six hundred listers set to receive mail. Given the recent volatility of the list, I would not be surprised to learn that even more people are set to vacation right now. Gail took responsibility for her bio not being included with the ballot. She is obviously a class act and I very much respect the fact that she has taken the high road throughout this election. I am only questioning the process because giving as much information as possible to all of the voters is vital to their making an informed choice. Our candidates do not have many options to get their views heard by all of the membership. We should take extraordinary steps to make sure that the bare minimum, the bio, is always included. Make it a rule. Fine the candidate if they do not submit a bio if you must. Just make sure the voters have information to make good choices. Some people are concerned that many GSDCA members will not have their vote counted. I personally do not advocate going against the bylaws, but I do believe it is only right to look for any possible legal means to insure every member's right to cast a vote and have it counted. Why? Because the basis of any democratic system is that vote. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2007.
