I've never been around working dogs much, but I'm going to meet some
this weekend when I attend the North American Sieger Show. I'm
getting pretty excited! Not sure if I'll care for their conformation
though...

I hope I don't offend anyone with this comment, but I like the
conformation of sound American dogs bred for the AKC ring. I do
appreciate European imports and own three myself, but I LOVE to see a
good American dog gaiting! It takes my breath away!

I applaud those, like Julie, who do put dual titles on their dogs. I
hope to do this one day...

I do consider a herding title a "working" title but it seems few
herding are GSD's at least in western Canada. the last allbreed event
I went to rotti's won everything.
I can not do herding as I have now where to train for that:-(
But for the number of GSD's Registered aganist the number being
trialed in any venue there are few being worked in working titles.
I love to see a German Shepherd Dog work, you can hear their brain
working!LOL

I think we seldom see our GSDs in Obedience any more because they
have gone to more interesting pursuits. I at one time, took all my
dogs through Utility. No more: now they herd. It is more fun for
them and for me. It gives them a purpose in life. Doris E

We rarely see German shepherd dogs in Obedience ,and agility any
more:-(
such a shame, at the Nationals look in your catalogues and see how
many
breed ring dogs come from Obedience titled parents or how many have
obedience titles? I think it is a wake up call for our dogs.
