[ SHOWGSD-L ] Progressive health records of the GSD

I'm a longtime GSD Breeders' customer. I do Obedience and have been searching
for my UD since 1958. We might be wise to take a look at why I remain
struggling and watching friends with Goldens, Labs, border collies, spaniels
and
even great danes boast of their OTCH's.
Of course, I own my myriad mistakes and have insisted on hanging in there
with my GSDs for a number of reasons. However, we might do well to take a look
at
the following record:
1958 - Valkyrie of Dornwald. (*Now that'll ring a bell with a few). Threw
up every morning at 9:00. Pancreas. Eventually totally crippled with HD.
Died 1971. Multiple problems
1960 - A Rescue. Abandoned by her dam at 3 days. Weird temperament
(understandable)
Total HD. Died 1974. Old age problems.
1975 - Blackwoods Sieglinde - More temperament problems inhibited learning.
She died 1983 - SUDDEN HEART FAILURE.
1983 - Brunnie - Kennel name omitted for obvious reasons. U-CDX; CDX: CGC; TD
Died 1991 CANCER.
1990 - Hallie - Kennel name omitted for obvious reasons. U-CDX;
CDX;TT;TC;HIC;TD;CGC;
BILATERAL HD Total hip implant on Left side. MICROPAPILLEA - inherited eye
disorder so unable to see her jumps. Died 2002 -STROKE.
1994 - Val - Kennel name omitted. Serious LUNGING PROBLEMS and became
dangerous. ENLARGED SPLEEN was removed. Dog BLOATED. Died 1997
1997 - Wendy - U-CD;CD;CGC; Val's replacement. Serious FEAR problems unable
to learn and compete. Diagnosed with CANCER - had surgery but no chemo and
currently doing well. She's beautiful.
2001 - Of an age now when I'd be unlikely to outlive a pup to prepare for
obedience. I adopted a 15 month old rescue. Surgery for PERSISTENT HYMEN and
INCONTINENCE.
Finally we're currently competing for our UD. She's smart; she's sweet;
she's GREAT. You probably wouldn't think much of her topline and her rear end
and
gay tail leave a little to be desired. She's capable of doing ANYTHING might
ask of her and I wouldn't ask her to go in the breed ring.
