One thing that I have observed as an issue is that people do not stay at the host hotel for the regional specialties. Unlike the national, there are usually plenty of rooms. The regional club puts a agreat deal of effort into finding the closest hotel that will acccept dogs. We then negotiate complimentary rooms for our judges as well as the use of a hospitality room. A block of rooms is reserved at a special rate. We must guarrantee a certain number of rooms - and book them - in order to receive the benefits. We also look for restaurants and know the area for what else you might need. So please, if you can stay at the host hotel for the regional specialty.
Other benefits You are around other shepherd people who can help look out for your dogs. You are close to all events that go on at that specialtyThe opportunity to get together with other friends and exhibitors is available. I can remember many times being on a "wing" of a hotel and getting together to talk and tell stories. On of the best was in Houston with Peggy Douglas and Carolyn McKenna. They had us all laughing until tears ran.
