Mike,
While I understand & sympathize with your past experiences, it is all rubbish
in comparison to what we are dealing with concerning Hunte and our Parent Club.
I think it's time for an analogy....
Mike, if you were part of some kind of parents/children group...Cub Scouts, a
Reading or Art Club or whatever....Would you want laws and policies in place to
keep accused child abusers out? I think so. They should have that right and
so should WE.

Oh No, I understand where you are coming from Jeff, I
was more along the lines of whats to say it wasn't....
Dont get me wrong, I pledged a traditionally white
fraternity when I was in undergrad school. At first I
did it to make a statement. When I was initiated, I
realized a lot of the guys were great guys and we have
lifelong bonds. When another African American rushed
and we were voting on who would get an invite the
chapter president made the statement of (Mind you, I
was present for the meeting because I was pledgemaster
that fall) "We've got one in here already, we don't
need two". MY JAW DROPPED as well as others. But, I
kept my mouth shut, (knowing it was wrong) and didn't
buck the system. While yes, we justified him not
receiving a bid by the vote, but pretty much it was
set in stone by our president's statement.
This is when I realized fraternities and sororities,
unlike private clubs, do not fall under the exclusion
rule and can discriminate. While it was ok, it was
still wrong.
Also, you know it well, as evidenced by the many
lawsuits seen today. Sometimes its a case of who has
the "Dream team" and bucks, and who can hold out the
longest. We're going through that righ tnow in the
horse show world. One powerful family sued one of the
registries. It was a matter of just holding out for
them before the registry said, "we can no longer go
forward with litigation, let's settle".
