So it's important that the hair test at the National also includes hair spray
and other chemicals added to the coat. I have alot of problems with tight
coats and I wouldn't want to be fooled into breeding to a dog that I thought
had a lush one......the tester should also pick up the dogs feet and make sure
the hair between the toes is not clipped as this gives the appearance of clean
tight feet. Bad croups can effect the dogs movement. I'm not sure that the
tester could conclusively determine if grooming was done to hide a bad one and
this might not be illegal anyway (just deceptive), but thinning the croup area
certainly is; that should be looked at.
I really don't think it's fair that my Bi bitch, with good feet a lovely
lush coat an excellent croup should lose to a lessor enhanced dog; but then
again, if she's a quality bitch, she wouldn't. :o)

Go back and reread my original post. I never once said that that I am
offering a justification for it, did I? Nope. So before you jump to
conclusions, go back, reread the post in its entirety...
No, my post wasnt about problems with enhanced dogs, my post was about WHY.
Double handling is also against the akc rules, anytime there is any outside
interference,
Let me ask you,
How many lakelands have you shown and got ready for the ring? (If you did
and added anything, its against AKC rules)
How many poodles have you sprayed up with spray and banded using more than 3
rubber bands? (also against akc rules)
How many times have you ratted up and sprayed up a westies head. (Using
chalk and spray against akc rules
How many times have you put hair spray in the croup of any of your dogs?
(Foreign Substances as well)
How many times have you added mouse to your shepherd's coat and blasted him
dry (also against akc rules of foreign substances)
Again, all those things mentioned above, are against akc rules, but I guess
when I see your tack box will only have a comb and a spray bottle of water,
then I will say you have a rightous indignation to be on that high horse.
Until then, just because my mouse has some pigment in it and yours doesnt,
dont get rightous. Because that too, pigment or not, is against AKC rules
for foreign substances. In short 98% of the grooming stuff we use is against
akc rules, but I dont think I will see you throw outyour mouse for just a
spray bottle of water.
