Practically everyone who sends pictures of their newborn puppies has these pretty little ribbons or colored strings tied around their pups necks. Now I think I know why they do it.......to help them identify which pup is which. I have to say in all the litters that I ever bred, I never did this once! Do some people really forget which pup is which, who their best puppy is, etc.? I don't understand this practice. Just curious, I guess. Barbara Hi Barbara, I never used ribbons either, would evaluate the litter at 4 weeks, pick my best, then at 6 weeks again, and at that time, the pets would have deposits , and the keepers would be kept.till 4 mos. and all decisions would be final. Never had to identify pups, even with the Cavaliers, I can tell the difference, and believe me that can be hard, those blenheims can look alike.
