Bill:
I would like to respond to your question posed to both Gail and myself as
Presidential candidates. I would also like to ask that all members review
Article V The Club Year, Voting, Nominations, Elections. I feel strongly that
any actions taken must be in accordance with the By Laws.
I am concerned about any attempt to circumvent the By Laws. There are only
two ways that can be done: through the courts and by amending the By Laws
(which takes 2/3 majority approval of the members). Once you start violating
or circumventing the By Laws it becomes a slippery slope and sets precedent.
The By laws are very specific regarding the time frame for the ballots to be
received by the Election Service. At this point we have approximately three
weeks for that to occur. I believe that all the ballots that are received by
the Election Service should be counted. Any returned to sender ballots should
be authorized to be placed in a different envelope and sent directly to the
ballot company. EVERY ballot received, no matter how they arrive, should be
counted. The directions that have been given are so confusing that it would be
simpler to allow plain envelopes and those should be sent to the ballot company
immediately.
Additionally, the Election Service Company should have been aware of the
changes that the U. S. Postal service made to the mailing procedures in August.
Therefore, they should bear the expenses of notification about the problem to
every member, mailing procedure and do whatever it takes to get all the ballots
counted within the proper time frame. This appears to be the fault of the
Election Service Company!! If they are unwilling to bear this expense, then
the club must.

This ballot issue is a real world problem. As some insight(albeit
miniscule) into your problem solving, logical reasoning and understanding of
due process. How would you suggest we solve this problem? Since
process is as important as the end solution(so that our bylaws are not
compromised), please discuss the process and the end solution you would
suggest
